Idumban is also seen as one of the guardian of Muruga's temples in Tamil Nadu. During ThaiPoosam celebrations in the Tamil month of Thai (January), Tamil people observes a ritual practice of kavadiyaatam to obtain blessings from God Muruga.
In this ritual practise before entering into muruga shrine people used to worship Idumban.
The Idumban Temple, situated on Idumban Hill, holds great significance
since the time of Sage Agastya. It is believed that Sage Agastya ordered
his demon assistant Idumban to take Sivagiri and Shaktigiri Hills to
his abode in South India. Idumban was among the few demon survivors of
the war between sura and asura. Idumban later became a devotee of Lord
Murugan.
Idumban is the protecting god of murugan .this temple is to be
worshipped before seeing the main deity as per Hindu custom.very small
