It is believed that the temple was built by the Group of Gavara Naidu samugam peoples on the ancient days to worship to get the divine power and blessings of lord Sivan Perumal and Karuppa swamy. The temple is now come across with over a double century older hidden History and deity's are following it to widen spread to the entire SAMUGAM.

Cheranmahadevi Sivaperuman Karuppa Swamy Temple, which is exactly situated at the south side edge of the river Thamirabarani.
The temple is very nearly surrounded by the two well known ancient temples. Which are very well famous places for spiritual & travel places. The one is Bhakthavatsala Perumal Temple, and the another one is Ammai Nathar Temple (navakailayam Temple).
How to reach the Temple
Location
To reach this Temple from Tirunelveli city to cheranmahadevi it's a half hour journey, from cheranmahadevi bus terminus, the distance of The temple is three kilometers far away. It can be reached only by local autos or taxi, it better to use local guidance instead of walk to get easy reach.
Temple Yearly Festival & Poojas
Every year during shivarathiri's eighth of the day will be the Festival day of the Temple, will be worshiped with Poojas. All people of the SAMUGAM will be there for their prayers and presence..
